Here you will learn how to collect a more segmented website audience using specific flows with Audience Manager. For example, if you want to collect an audience on a specific page, then every audience who grants push notification access will be recorded in Audience Manager.
Do I Need to Use Audience Manager?
If you want to send push notifications in a more segmented way, you need to use Audience Manager. Why? Because when you create a Push Campaign, you will be given the option to send it to All Audience or Segmented Audience. All Audience if you want to send to all your visitors, while Segmented Audience is only a few visitors who have been recorded in Audience Manager.
The way Audience Manager works is almost like using Labels. The audience collected in Audience Manager will also be useful if you want to send a Push Campaign so that the push notifications are sent to the right people.
In Audience Manager, you will get 2 data points: Visitor and Audience Visitor is the number of visitors to whom you can send a Banner Audience is the number of audiences to whom you can send Push notifications So, if you have 7 visitors and 5 Audiences. If you create a Banner Campaign, those 7 people will receive your Banner, and your 5 Audiences will not receive the Banner. Conversely, if you send a Push Campaign, the 7 registered visitors will not receive a Push notification, and your 5 Audiences will receive the Push notification.
To get started, follow these steps:
- Go to "Engagement Tools" and select "Audience Manager".
- Click "New Audience".
- Here you will have 2 method options for audience collection: Website and Behavior. However, for now, you can only use the Website method.
About the Website method Here you can collect audience more specifically on certain pages based on the website you are using. For example: You want to collect audience from your website, example.com, more specifically on the page example.com/sample only.
- In this section, you need to fill in several descriptions:
- Audience Name: Enter the name of the audience list you want.
- Audience Description: A description of the audience you are gathering.
- Events: You can choose two options for the rules you want. The two Event options are All Website Audiences (For opt-in applications across all pages on the website and Landing Page if you activate it) and Visit Specific Web Pages (For opt-in applications on specific pages only).
In the Visit Specific Web Pages option, you will be asked to choose from 3 options that provide more detail on the specific web page you want. Here are the 3 options:
Equal
If you want to record the audience on one specific page only.
Example: You use the link example.com/case1. Then every audience who allows opt-in on the case1 page will be recorded as an audience. If later there are pages after case1, such as example.com/case1/case1-2, then if an audience allows opt-in on the case1-2 page, they will not be recorded as an audience.
Contain
If you want to record the audience on one page and several pages after that.
Example: You use the link example.com/case1. So every page after case1, if a visitor allows opt-in, will still be recorded. For example, with a link like example.com/case1/case1-2. Then every audience who allows opt-in on the case1-2 page will be recorded as an audience.
Not Contain
If you want to record the audience who do not open a specific page.
Example: You enter the link example.com/case1. Then every audience who allows opt-in on the link example.com and other pages will be recorded as an audience, except on the case1 page. So the exception on the case1 page will not be recorded as an audience.
Tip: If you use push notifications on the Mailtarget Website and Landing Page, and you want to collect audience on either of these two options. For example, website only or Mailtarget Landing Page only. Then you can use the Visit Specific Web Pages option and fill in either your website or the Mailtarget Landing Page.
- You can also add additional settings in the Advance Segment. Note that you need to select at least 1 data from each option in the Advance Segment if you want to use it. So, you need to fill in all the data in the Advance Segment. You cannot select only Country without selecting Browser, and so on.
Here are some settings options in the Advance Segment:
- Country: Record the audience from the selected country.
- City: Record the audience from the selected city.
- Browser: Record the audience who use the selected browser.
- Operating System: Record the audience who use the selected Operating System.
NOTE: In the Country and City data, the data that appears here are the countries and cities of audience who HAVE visited your website. So, you can only select the cities and countries of audience who have visited your website.
If you have filled in all the settings, you should have successfully created the audience list you want. The system will record all audience who match the qualifications of the audience you have created.
After the audience has been gathered as you want, when creating a Campaign, in the Recipient section, you only need to select 'Segmented Audience' and choose the list you have created.
